Responsibilities in the Kingdom

1. We need to allow the King to establish His Kingdom in our lives. This we do by diligently studying the Word of God and submitting to it.We communicate with God in prayer and grow in our relationship with Him. We allow Him to take over our lives and live through us. We give up selfish desires and ambitions.

When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, "Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it.   Mark 8:34-35 (NKJV)

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.   Galatians 2:20 (NKJV)

2. We have to progress forward in the Kingdom by following Christ and obeying the voice of the Holy Spirit. We should not turn back.

But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."   Luke 9:62 (NKJV)

Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.   Philippians 3:13-14 (NKJV)

3. We accept all others in the Kingdom and have fellowship with them. We pray for each other and help each other, speaking words of truth to build each other in the faith.

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.   Hebrews 10:24-25 (NKJV)

4. We should always seek the unity of those in the Kingdom. Wherever there is discord among the brethren, we should stand in the gap and intercede and speak words that will bring peace.

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;   Hebrews 12:14-15 (NKJV)

Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.   Matthew 5:9 (NKJV)

5. It is our responsibility also to see God's Kingdom extended. We pray for people to be open to accept the way of salvation through Jesus Christ. We should witness firstly through our lives by setting a godly example. We need to also take every opportunity to make the Gospel message known to all people. This can be done by witnessing verbally or distributing Gospel literature. These days there are many easy ways, like the Internet, to spread the good news of the Gospel worldwide. Those who are ready should be led into God's Kingdom and taught to follow the Lord Jesus.

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.   Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV)
