Spiritual warfare - 3

Battlefield – The mind

The spiritual battlefield is the mind. Even when my heart wants to worship, my head refuses to bow down. The fact is that GOD is on the throne in heaven. If He is on the throne in my life, I am living in victory. He sets His throne in my heart and not in my head. When His dominion extends to my mind and body, I experience peace. All my thoughts and actions should come under His rule.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.  Romans 12:1-2 (NKJV)

Renewing of the mind

The whole world lies in darkness under the deceptive thinking or mindset of the enemy. This mindset and habits are passed down from generation to generation as generational curses. The ‘ New age’ ideas and beliefs are even more deviant and flare up as epidemic diseases while some settle in the minds of people and become endemic (Prevalent at all times) oppression. People are carried away with the flow like dead fish, as they don’t take time to stop and think why they do what they do. Unfortunately, we as Christians are not different unless and until the LORD’S light shines on us through His word.

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
Ephesians 2:1-3 (NKJV)

Once we know the truth, it is important for us to walk and progress in this truth.

As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. 8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.  Colossians 2:6-8 (NKJV)Diligently weed out also religious traditions in your life, which hinder you from obeying GOD’S commandments. These can be very subtle, if you have been a traditional Christian. JESUS said to the Pharisees and scribes,

“All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.
Mark 7:9 (NKJV)

My thinking has to be renewed to come in line with GOD’S word in every aspect of my life, for me to live in victory.

Who am I?
What does GOD require of me?
    What is health?
      What is success?
What is it to be blessed?
          Who is my enemy?
            What is a profitable life?
How do I redeem time?
How do I love my spouse?
How do I love my Mum?
How do I love my Dad?
How do I love my Daughter?
How do I love my son?
How do I love my neighbor?
              How do I love ……..
                How do I love GOD?
Answers are found in the Bible, to all these questions, and we should diligently seek them

Personal testimony:-

I was diagnosed with high blood pressure about 14 years ago at 40 years of age. It was not unusual as both my parents were on treatment for hypertension. I was put on medication and I knew it was going to be for life. The desire to be off medication increased within me as we prepared to move from Perth to New Zealand about 3 years ago. The word from the Lord for our move was from Genesis 35:1-7

 “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves and change your garments. Then let us arise and go up to Bethel.”  Genesis 35: 2b, 3a;

Our new home in Auckland was going to be called ‘El Bethel’ (GOD of the House of GOD). I had to put away and make an effort to let go of many things, including jig saw puzzles which I enjoyed so much that they had a little control over me! How about Tritace – “Isn’t this little tablet like a god to me? I can’t do without it. I am dependent on it every day of my life. I don’t want to depend on this tablet, but on the LORD,” was the way my thoughts went. I also knew in my mind that stopping to take the tablet after 10 years would mean disaster. Then I made up my mind that if the LORD clearly spoke to me, I would give up the medication.

A month after our arrival in New Zealand, we attended revival meetings at which Brother Mohan c. Lazarus ministered. He spoke on generational curses that manifest as hereditary diseases. It is true that we may receive sicknesses from our fathers. The fact that as children of God we can receive healing from our Heavenly Fathe,r, dawned afresh on me. When I went up for prayer, a portion of scripture (Mark 5:34) was quickened to me.

And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.” This verse replaced the tablet of Tritace from that day! Some of the lessons I have learnt over these 3 years are as follows:-

  • God is faithful to keep His promise.
  • God created me and He is able to heal me.
  • I am now under the care of a new Physician Who is my Maker.
  • I need to take diligence in heeding and obeying the instructions of my ‘Manufacturer’ so that His Purpose for my life on earth may be fulfilled.
  •  I realize that any symptom makes me consult Him diligently.
  • He treats my symptoms graciously.
  • God’s plan is to radically uproot the cause of my sickness because He wants to make me whole, Spirit, soul and body, preparing me for eternity!
  • Having my mind re-programmed according to the word of God helps me to overcome fear.
  •  This God has proved Himself to be trustworthy.
  • He fills the hearts of those who surrender their lives to Him, with His love, casting out fear.
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.  Philippians 4:8 (NKJV)
