Leaky vessels!

Isaiah 53:7 (NKJV)He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.

Many of us suffer from verbal incontinence! Wrong words come out of our mouths. Even right words spoken at the wrong time can be a nuisance like weeds.
Jesus Christ, God's Son, came to this earth to save us by taking upon Himself the punishment for our sin. He did not open His mouth to condemn us. He silently bore our transgression and iniquity. He prayed that God would forgive all of us - even the worst of sinners. He opened His mouth to release forgiveness and offer salvation. His words give us new life!

John 6:68 (NKJV)
But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

Matthew 4:4 (NKJV)
But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.' "

James 3:2 (NKJV)
For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

Our tongue is like the little rudder that steers a big ship. Let us carefully use our words to steer our lives in the path of life. We need to use meaningful words in our prayers to God.

Romans 10:9-10 (NKJV)

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

1 Peter 4:7 (NKJV)

But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.

Matthew 12:34-37 (NKJV)

Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.
But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

The fruit of our lips is an indication to the kind of seed that is planted in our hearts. Be careful what you plant in the garden of your heart!

Proverbs 4:23 (NKJV)

Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.

2 Corinthians 5:18-21 (NKJV)
Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,
that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Let us at all times have the prayer of intercession and the word of reconciliation in our mouths.

Proverbs 15:1 (NKJV)
A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.

We should exercise self control when responding to the words of others.

Proverbs 18:13 (NKJV)
He who answers a matter before he hears it, It is folly and shame to him.

Proverbs 15:23 (NKJV)

A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is!

Matthew 15:17-20 (NKJV)
Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated?
But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.
These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."

When we realize that the words that come out of our mouths affect the hearers, we would be responsible and not callous with our words.

Ephesians 5:4 (NKJV)
neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

Proverbs 16:28 (NKJV)

A perverse man sows strife, And a whisperer separates the best of friends.

Let us be careful to speak choice words that heal relationships and promote God's love.

Proverbs 18:8 (NKJV)

The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles, And they go down into the inmost body.

Open your mouth, judge righteously, And plead the cause of the poor and needy.

Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Proverbs 27:14 (NKJV)

He who blesses his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, It will be counted a curse to him.

Even a word of blessing that is untimely and foolish, boomerangs as a curse.

Proverbs 15:2 (NKJV)
The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.

Knowledge is like a box of various kinds of jewelry. You must bring out and put on only the appropriate jewelry for a given occasion!

Proverbs 23:9 (NKJV)

Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, For he will despise the wisdom of your words.

Proverbs 25:11 (NKJV)

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold In settings of silver.

The Spirit of God Who is our Wisdom, directs us to speak the correct word in a particular situation. It is  powerful and strengthens others in their spirit, soul and body and brings joy to the Father heart of God.

Isaiah 50:4 (NKJV)

"The Lord God has given Me The tongue of the learned, That I should know how to speak A word in season to him who is weary. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear To hear as the learned.

Yes, my inmost being will rejoice When your lips speak right things.

James 1:19 (NKJV)

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

Proverbs 20:19 (NKJV)
He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets; Therefore do not associate with one who flatters with his lips.

Flattery boosts up carnality but encouragement builds up spirituality.

Proverbs 26:28 (NKJV)
A lying tongue hates those who are crushed by it, And a flattering mouth works ruin.

Proverbs 29:5 (NKJV)
A man who flatters his neighbor Spreads a net for his feet.

Proverbs 29:20 (NKJV)

Therefore Let us pray:-

Psalms 19:14 (NKJV)
