Developing a Spiritual Mind

corona means 'crown'.

The corona virus has a resemblance to a crown when seen under the electron microscope.

Spiritually, crown depicts the head and the mind.

It would therefore be appropriate for us to study about the mind, from the word of GOD.

What is GOD speaking to us through this?

What is the Almighty GOD alerting us to, spiritually, that is towards eternity?

I need to understand that my carnal mind is in conflict with my spiritual mind. I need to constantly steer my mind to overcome the carnality in me to live victoriously.

Romans 8:5-6

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Romans 7:22-25

For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

Imagine a computer having good programs installed in its hard drive. Such is a person whose heart is right with GOD and is spiritually sound. This computer cannot effectively function unless it is connected to the internet. Similarly, it is the mind of that Godly person that facilitates or hinders the effective functioning of his spiritual life.

2 Corinthians 10:5

casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Thus you need to develop your spiritual mind.

Psalm 8:4

What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?

Psalm 115:12

The LORD has been mindful of us; He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron.

Matthew 16:23

But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men."

SEEK

GOD is mindful of you. Therefore be mindful of GOD and the things of GOD.

GOD’S mind is full of you. Let your mind be full of GOD!

Seek to have lowliness of mind by submitting to GOD and associating with the humble.

Cleanse your mind from all defilement and evil thinking.

Put away carnality of mind by seeking those things that are above.

Do not allow your mind to be preoccupied with your earthly needs, rather be preoccupied with GOD’S Kingdom business at all times.

Colossians 3:1-4

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.  When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

1 Corinthians 13:5

Love does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;

Jeremiah 45:5

"And do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for behold, I will bring adversity on all flesh," says the LORD. "But I will give your life to you as a prize in all places, wherever you go."

Matthew 6:33

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Matthew 7:8

"For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

SEE

Seek GOD until you see Him through your eyes of faith.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10

But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him."  But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

2 Corinthians 5:7

For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Matthew 5:8

Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

John 1:50

Jesus answered and said to him, "Because I said to you, 'I saw you under the fig tree,' do you believe? You will see greater things than these."

SET

Gird up the loins of your mind and be disciplined in your thinking.

Do not be double minded but be strong in your faith.

Do not give into fear which comes through deception. Establish your mind on the truth so that you have a sound mind, knowing GOD’S love and power.

Turn your mind away from anxious thoughts and let it be stayed on CHRIST so that you may have peace.

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.

Matthew 9:4

But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?

Psalm 119:113

I hate the double-minded, But I love Your law.

James 1:8

he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

James 4:7-8

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

The reward to the one who overcomes is the crown of life.

Revelation 2:23

I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.

Revelation 2:10

Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

Revelation 4:4

Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads.

Revelation 4:10-11

the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: "You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created."

CHRIST - The Head Of The Church

Christ is the head of the church. When all the members of the Church have the mind of CHRIST, the body of CHRIST is made whole. Each member takes his/ her rightful place in the Body. Then each member will walk in right relationship with CHRIST and with one another. All selfish motives will be set aside as the Church, the Bride of CHRIST lives for the welfare of the Kingdom of GOD and to glorify CHRIST JESUS.

Philippians 2:1-11

Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Jeremiah 31:33

But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

1 Corinthians 2:16

For "who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ.

Romans 12:16

Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.

1 Thessalonians 4:11

that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you,

Romans 14:5

One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind.

Ephesians 4:13-15

... till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--Christ--

It would therefore be appropriate for us to study about the mind, from the word of GOD.

What is GOD speaking to us through this?

What is the Almighty GOD alerting us to, spiritually, that is towards eternity?

The brain in the head needs to have control of every system in the physical body to function healthy. When one’s mind is renewed according to the truth of GOD’S word and the Spirit rules the mind, that person is made whole, spirit, soul and body. Such a person is living and walking in the spirit by faith which comes through the word of GOD.

Romans 12:1-2

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I live according to the will of GOD when my mind is renewed by His word and my body is offered to Him as a living sacrifice.

Ephesians 4:22-23

that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

Just like clothes that get dirty and need to be washed, my mind needs to be cleansed and renewed regularly.

Matthew 15:17-20

Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."

My concern should be more about what goes into my mind and comes out of my heart than about what goes into my mouth. GOD sees and tests the motives of my mind and the attitudes of my heart.

Ephesians 4:17-19

This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

I have to connect with GOD in my mind so that I may not sin.

Romans 1:29

being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers,

Bad thoughts that linger in my mind will affect the attitude of my heart causing me to sin  and eventually manifest as wicked deeds.

Luke 12:29

And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind.

The vicious cycle of worrying thoughts will bring me to anxiety and depression.

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

When my mind is connected to GOD I have peace.

Mark 5:15

Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.

2 Timothy 1:7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Demonic spirits enter a person through the mind, causing chaotic thinking but the Holy Spirit keeps the mind sound.

Colossians 2:6-10

As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

It is so important for me to have my mind established in CHRIST and not be swayed by philosophies, principles and traditions that are deceitful.
