Going Away From The Presence Of GOD
And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person." So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD. - Job 1:12
So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD, and struck Job with painful boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head. - Job 2:7
Satan went out from the Presence of the LORD to afflict His servant Job. Job's faith was severely tested and he came out as gold.
Satan continues to work against GOD'S servants and GOD'S people. He can have access to them only when GOD permits him with a specific purpose.
And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. - Genesis 3:8
After eating the forbidden fruit Adam and Eve hid from the Presence of GOD in guilt and shame. Sinful disobedience resulting in guilt and shame make us hide from GOD.
After murdering his brother Abel, Cain went out from the Presence of GOD.
Then Cain went out from the presence of the LORD and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden. - Genesis 4:16
But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. - Jonah 1:3
Although Jonah was GOD'S servant, his desire for the people of Nineveh was different to GOD'S desire for them. The LORD wanted Jonah to take a message of warning to them so that they may repent and be saved. Jonah desired to see them perish. Therefore in blatant disobedience Jonah travelled a different direction from the Presence of the LORD.
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me. If I say, "Surely the darkness shall fall on me," Even the night shall be light about me; Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You. - Psalm 139:7-12
Sin, disobedience and guilt cause us to turn away from the Presence of GOD.
We need to know that we cannot hide from the Omnipresent GOD Whose Presence fills the heavens and the earth.
Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. - Isaiah 55:6-7
