Overcomers

Overcomers
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. - Philippians 4:13
When our granddaughter turned three, she could do many things ‘All by herself’; so she thought! If she were given the opportunity, she would even try to do ‘ All things All by herself’!! You can imagine the disaster of such actions that would cause danger to herself and others!!! We can be brought to a place of such thinking by the enemy of our soul whose intent is to pump us high and cause us to fall. The apostle Paul said that he could handle all kinds of situations. He confessed that this ability was through CHRIST Who strengthened him.

It is necessary for us to continue to seek the LORD even when we think we have arrived at our destination and we have been established.  Deut 8:10-18
We have to beware not to shift our confidence from the LORD to ‘myself’. King Asa in 2 Chron 14-16
It is wise to trust the LORD and not man.

When the LORD has blessed you and you are in a good place in a good position, you and your family, the enemy will get attracted to you. Job

  • He will cause you to take your eyes off the LORD.
  • He will cause you to focus on your blessings and your good situation.
  • He will prompt you to say in your heart, “I have done well” “ I cannot be touched.” I cannot fall.” This self confidence will be the start of the spoiling of the fruit of the Spirit. The skin of the fruit of the Spirit is self control and it holds the fruit together and protects it from invading insects. Self control brings myself under control and under the control of the Holy Spirit. When the skin of the fruit is broken, the devil gets a foothold in like the insect does.
  • Once the devil has got a foot in, he will pump your self up.
  • While the fruit of the Spirit spoils, the fruit of the flesh manifests.

Remember, Acknowledge and Thank the LORD when you are in a good place, you, your family, your Church.

Do not take your eyes off the LORD: Heed His deep soft, gentle prompting as a serious matter. Take time to seek the LORD diligently until you know your spirit is in submission to the Holy Spirit.

Be led by the Spirit. Stand firmly against impulsive decisions  and compulsive actions of the flesh in small or great matters.
Even if you have faltered, humble yourself to acknowledge your sin, confess and Repent.

Receive the LORD’S abounding grace and return to the LORD.

Thus you will be an overcomer!

Make a note of the lessons you have learnt so you don’t repeat the same mistakes.

Intercede for others in similar situations.

Teach others what you have learnt.

It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them.
And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.
All who dwell on the earth will worship him,
whose names have not been written in the Book of Life
of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Revelation 13:7-8

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.
In the world you will have tribulation;
but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
John 16:33

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Romans 12:21
