Spirit, Soul and Body
In many parts of the Scriptures, Wood depicts things of the World, Bronze depicts the Body, Silver depicts the Soul and Gold depicts the things of the Spirit, things relating to GOD.
Man is spiritually dead unless and until he receives the Holy Spirit by surrendering his life to GOD the Father and the LORD JESUS CHRIST.
Every human being has a spirit within which needs to be revived by the Spirit of the Living GOD. It is like a plug point. Only the Holy Spirit Who proceeds from GOD the Father and the LORD JESUS will fit perfectly into this plug point like a plug. This plug point is the Faith of each individual that is able to receive the love of GOD'S Faithfulness and connect with Him.
This is the Spiritual and eternal part of man. This is where GOD connects with man. This is referred to as the 'Heart' of man, the innermost being which GOD is most interested in!
But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
1 Corinthians 6:17
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world,
but the Spirit who is from God,
but the Spirit who is from God,
that we might know the things
that have been freely given to us by God.
1 Corinthians 2:12 that have been freely given to us by God.
All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust.
Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward,
and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth?
Ecclesiastes 3:20-21
Ecclesiastes 3:20-21
The Lord looks from heaven;
He sees all the sons of men.
He sees all the sons of men.
From the place of His dwelling He looks
On all the inhabitants of the earth;
On all the inhabitants of the earth;
He fashions their hearts individually;
He considers all their works.
Psalm 33:13-15
He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver;
He will purify the sons of Levi,
And purge them as gold and silver,
And purge them as gold and silver,
That they may offer to the Lord An offering in righteousness.
Malachi 3:3
Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed,
Or the golden bowl is broken,
Or the pitcher shattered at the fountain,
Or the wheel broken at the well.
Then the dust will return to the earth as it was,
And the spirit will return to God who gave it.
Ecclesiastes 12:6-7
Ecclesiastes 12:6-7
For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid,
which is Jesus Christ.
which is Jesus Christ.
Now if anyone builds on this foundation
with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,
with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,
each one's work will become clear;
for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire;
and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is.
If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.
If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss;
but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
1 Corinthians 3:11-15
The twelve gates were twelve pearls:
each individual gate was of one pearl.
but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
1 Corinthians 3:11-15
The twelve gates were twelve pearls:
each individual gate was of one pearl.
And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
Revelation 21:21
Revelation 21:21
Our free will rules even when the Holy Spirit is in us. We can quench Him or allow the Holy Spirit to work through us. The Holy Spirit does not forcibly control us. There has to be a continual yielding on our part to the leading of the Spirit.
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God,
by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Ephesians 4:30
And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
1 Corinthians 14:32
But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection,
lest, when I have preached to others,
I myself should become disqualified.
I myself should become disqualified.
1 Corinthians 9:27
Our bodies should be disciplined and kept under control.
The body should be purposefully and willingly brought under the control of the spirit.
Thus our lives would be spiritually alive!
And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin,
but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you,
He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies
through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors--not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.
For if you live according to the flesh you will die;
but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
Romans 8:10-14
Romans 8:10-14
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,
who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh,
God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin:
He condemned sin in the flesh,
that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us
who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh,
but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Romans 8:1-6
The soul - the mind - has to make the decision to allow either the spirit or the flesh to lead and direct our life.
The flesh feeds on the water of worldliness.
The spirit drinks of the Holy Spirit.
The soul is constantly pulled both ways.
There is a breakthrough when the soul is able to wholly follow the spirit.
In the rapture the the soul and the body will follow the spirit.
It is therefore necessary for us to teach and train our soul to respond to and follow the spirit.
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth;
for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak;
and He will tell you things to come.
He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
All things that the Father has are Mine.
Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.
John 16:13-15
John 16:13-15
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12
The marrow is in the bone and is life-giving.
This points to our vital connection with GOD.
This points to our vital connection with GOD.
The joint is between bones and gives effective movements between them.
This points to our relationships with others.
This points to our relationships with others.
The marrow depicts the spirit and the joint depicts the soul.
Just like the joint and marrow, the line between the soul and spirit is fine but distinct.
Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you!
Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.
Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you
and will eat your flesh like fire.
You have heaped up treasure in the last days.
Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out;
and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.
You have lived on the earth in pleasure and luxury;
you have fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter.
You have condemned, you have murdered the just; he does not resist you.
James 5:1-6
Such is the condition of the spirit, soul and body of those who live for the things of the world.
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
1 John 2:15-17
And He said to them, "Take heed and beware of covetousness,
for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses."
Luke 12:15
True love is of the heart, the spirit.
Lust is of the soul. It is sensual.
It is sensation of the eyes, the flesh, the emotion and intellect.
We cannot help liking or disliking certain people, things and situations.
Such likes and dislikes are formed from our experiences in life.
L I K E is I centered.
LOVE is Others centered.
Love makes the decision to seek the welfare of others.
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
3 John 1:2
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely;
and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless
at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
