STARS

STARS

 So the evening and the morning were the third day.
Then God said, "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens
to divide the day from the night;
and let them be for signs and seasons,
and for days and years;
and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens
to give light on the earth";
and it was so. Then God made two great lights:
the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night.
He made the stars also.
God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth,
and to rule over the day and over the night,
and to divide the light from the darkness.
And God saw that it was good.
So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
Genesis 1:13-19

GOD made the stars not only to give light in the night
but also to mark signs and seasons.
 Didn't the appearance of a special star
mark the birth of the Savior of the world?

"I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near;
A Star shall come out of Jacob;
A Scepter shall rise out of Israel,
And batter the brow of Moab,
And destroy all the sons of tumult.
Numbers 24:17

saying, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?
For we have seen His star in the East
and have come to worship Him."
Matthew 2:2

Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men,
determined from them what time the star appeared.
Matthew 2:7

When they heard the king, they departed;
and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them,
till it cme and stood over where the young Child was.
When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
Matthew 2:9-10

Then He brought him outside and said,
"Look now toward heaven,
and count the stars if you are able to number them."
And He said to him,
"So shall your descendants be."
And he believed in the Lord,
and He accounted it to him for righteousness.
Genesis 15:5-6

The Almighty GOD promised to bless His nearly 100 year old friend
who was childless, with descendants like the stars -
not only in number but I believe, who would shine in the darkness as well.
The descendants of Abraham are those who believe in the LORD,
walk in faith and are accounted as righteous by GOD.

Stars are like holes in the sky:
Their light pierces the thick darkness that covers the earth.
Stars are people who let the light of GOD
reflect through them in this world.

 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
Psalm 8:3-5

Praise Him, sun and moon;
Praise Him, all you stars of light!
Psalm 148:3

Do all things without complaining and disputing,
that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God
without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation,
among whom you shine as lights in the world,
Philippians 2:14-15

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness,
who has shone in our hearts
to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God
in the face of Jesus Christ.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,
that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
2 Corinthians 4:6-7

Those who are wise
shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament,
And those who turn many to righteousness
Like the stars forever and ever.
Daniel 12:3

For we did not follow cunningly devised fables
when we made known to you
the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,
but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.

 For He received from God the Father honor and glory
when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory:
"This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
And we heard this voice which came from heaven
when we were with Him on the holy mountain.
And so we have the prophetic word confirmed,
which you do well to heed
as a light that shines in a dark place,
until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;
2 Peter 1:16-19

The LORD JESUS CHRIST is
the Bright and Morning Star!

And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end,
to him I will give power over the nations-
- 'He shall rule them with a rod of iron;
They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter's vessels'-
- as I also have received from My Father;
  and I will give him the morning star.
Revelation 2:26-28
