Motives and Attitudes

Motives and Attitudes

Motive is the goal or direction of the mind.

Attitude is the position of the heart.

If Motive is 'Where you are going'
then Attitude is 'How you are getting there'.

Both are equally important.

If the Motive is Truth,
 the Attitude should be Love.

If the Motive is to soar to spiritual heights,
 the Attitude should be to serve with Humility.

If the Motive is to gain Authority,
the Attitude should be to gain Understanding.

If the Motive is to Save your Life,
the Attitude has to be to Surrender your Life to CHRIST.

 When He had called the people to Himself,
with His disciples also,
 JESUS said to them,
 "Whoever desires to come after Me,
 let him deny himself,
 and take up his cross,
 and follow Me.
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it,
 but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it.
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world,
 and loses his own soul?
Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words
 in this adulterous and sinful generation,
 of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed
 when He comes in the glory of His Father
 with the holy angels."
Mark 8:34-38

Understanding

Understanding

Like a roaring lion and a charging bear
Is a wicked ruler over poor people.
A ruler who lacks understanding is a great oppressor,
But he who hates covetousness will prolong his days.
Proverbs 28:15-16

Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God;
For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.
The LORD builds up Jerusalem;
He gathers together the outcasts of Israel.
He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.
He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name.
Great is our Lord, and mighty in power;
His understanding is infinite.
The LORD lifts up the humble;
He casts the wicked down to the ground.
Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving;
Sing praises on the harp to our God,
Who covers the heavens with clouds,
Who prepares rain for the earth,
Who makes grass to grow on the mountains.
He gives to the beast its food,
And to the young ravens that cry.
He does not delight in the strength of the horse;
He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.
The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him,
In those who hope in His mercy.
Psalm 147:1-11

Understanding simply means standing under someone,
something or some situation.
This is the first step to lift up another.

Imagine an adult, towering over a little child,
lifting him up by his little arms or by his head!
On the other hand, an understanding adult
would squat down by the child, put his arms gently below the child
to scoop the child up from the ground.

Although our GOD is so great,
He humbles Himself to understand the broken-hearted
and the down-cast.
He stands under them so that He could lift them up.
He casts down the wicked who is proud
so that He can then lift him up.

Picture a little child having climbed on a ladder,
now unable to come down!
You could either stand above him on the ladder
and push him down
or stand below and gently coax him down,
stretching your arms to hold him lest he fall.

If we don’t understand those over whom we have authority,
we would be oppressors.

If we don’t come down to understand those under us,
we would be oppressing them from above,
trying to exert our authority over them and controlling them.
This is not the way of the LORD. It is the way of Satan.
He pumps us up and then finds great pleasure
in causing people to fall.

Treasure Hunt

Treasure Hunt

Easter Egg Hunt
We organised an Easter Egg Hunt for our granddaughters who are six and three years old. For Shannah, the instructions were printed as clues. For example, one of them was, 'You will find it on the bed, where Grandpa and Nana lay their head'! There were eight eggs placed in different rooms with clues!
For Kaylah who is used to pointing at things she wants, the directions were given as coloured paper arrows placed at intervals which led her to the treasure of the Easter Eggs!
All of us had good fun helping the kids find the eggs with great excitement!
Then we sat and thought and discussed about the spiritual lesson we had learnt.

GOD has good things planned for each one of us and placed them strategically in the path of life. GOD'S blessings are strategically placed in the pathway of faithful obedience.
His instructions are in the Bible. The Holy Spirit in the believer gives revelation of the Scriptures and enables him to walk that path of obedience. If the believer diligently decides and seeks to find the treasures, he will walk in all the blessings of the LORD.

Yet, the greatest treasure for GOD is souls of people. He loves people and the LORD JESUS laid down His life so that souls that are lost would be found. The believers' greatest treasure should also be souls. We should diligently so seek for souls that need to be reached out with the love of GOD and with the Gospel of Grace.

If you have not yet found salvation in the LORD JESUS CHRIST, know today that the GOD of Heaven, in His love, is seeking to save you and to put you on the path of blessings. The LORD JESUS, the Savior of the world is the greatest treasure you can find! This path will lead you to eternal life after your course on earth.

As you call on the name of JESUS, He will answer you. He will reveal Himself to you and guide you in a manner that you can understand. Just as Shannah had written clues and little Kaylah who cannot yet read had coloured arrows, so as to lead them to the Easter Eggs respectively, so your loving Heavenly Father will lead you clearly to the wonderful spiritual treasures He has in store for you. He finds great joy in guiding His children into all His goodness.

Be diligent to seek Him and to be found by Him today!

 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above
 and comes down from the Father of lights,
with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
James 1:17

'Call to Me, and I will answer you,
and show you great and mighty things,
which you do not know.'
Jeremiah 33:3

"Ask, and it will be given to you;
seek, and you will find;
knock, and it will be opened to you.
Matthew 7:7

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.
Psalm 32:8

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come,
He will guide you into all truth;
for He will not speak on His own authority,
but whatever He hears He will speak;
and He will tell you things to come.
John 16:13
